Doug Hilton
For over three decades, I have been devoted to full-time work in the counselling field.
Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work in many diverse settings and with individuals from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds.
My expertise spans across all age groups, and I have developed extensive experience working with trauma and addictions, including problem gambling.
My theoretical orientation is a unique blend of Adlerian and Gestalt counselling approaches.
I view people as being discouraged rather than sick and address their concerns with approaches that recognize that our minds and bodies are connected.
I have combined these with different approaches and techniques that I have learned from my colleagues over the years.
I am dedicated to helping individuals overcome their challenges and achieve their goals.
Self-Healing Practice
Taoist Emotional Recycling
Positive Energy
Have you struggled with letting go of bad feelings about something that happened to you in the past?
There is a solution: Taoist Emotional Recycling
All Taoist Chi Kung practices treat negative emotional states as material that can be recycled into positive energy for your benefit.
Taoist Emotional Recycling includes the side-to-side movements that EMDR uses, adds more eye movements for more thorough processing, and heals the whole body by integrating those movements with Chi Kung somatic treatments and mindfulness.
The result is a simple and powerful approach that most anyone can learn.
However, Taoist Emotional Recycling is also the name of a new counselling practice that produces fast, profound relief from emotional issues that a person has difficulty letting go of on his or her own.
An Energy Psychology Approach and Self-Healing Practice
EMDR brought worldwide attention to the effectiveness and need for eye movements to stimulate and encourage the healing process.
Eye movements have been used in the Taoist Chi Kung system for thousands of years.
Taoist Emotional Recycling formally incorporates and integrates eye movements of the type that EMDR uses into the basic Taoist Chi Kung practices and then adds new eye movements.
The result is a powerful self-healing practice that can be learned and applied quickly to address unhealthy or unwanted patterns, trauma, anxiety, depression and addictions.

FAQ
Taoist Emotional Recycling (TER) is a simple yet powerful approach to neutralizing the emotion that is connected to some event or events from your past.
The results are natural, complete and permanent. It is a self-help practice that is easy to learn and apply to a variety of concerns such as trauma, addictions, anxiety, depression, phobias and physical pain.
The approach is part of a comprehensive healing system that you can also choose to learn more about at some point, the Universal Healing Tao system.
TER requires less set-up questions and assessments.
TER has only one treatment phase whereas EMDR uses three.
TER uses two types of eye movements while EMDR only uses one. In keeping with Chinese Medicine principles, TER focuses on specific internal organs to address aspects of the issue that may have been missed using EMDR.
The treatment process is usually quicker and is less painful in TER.
TER can be easily learned as a self-help practice.
Doug will meet with you individually or in a group setting.
If you want to become a certified TER practitioner, group and agency training in the technique is available.
Prior exposure to or training in EMDR is not required.
